Sensational September!

I welcome September with open arms, positive energy, and all my heart.

Why? Because I can.

Yes. I choose in this moment, no matter what is going on in the world, to choose joy.

I know so much may seem daunting, and you may even be feeling exhausted. But I remind you, that you have within you enormous power and strength.

You have the ability to choose.

A new month and a new season bring new opportunities if you choose to open your heart and mind to receive them.

I choose to move forward. To remember my purpose and embrace each opportunity no matter how it comes to me, as the chance to make a difference.

Whether one person or thousands of lives are changed by my work, I choose to remember that a life well-lived is a life to be proud of.

With that, let's catch up on what I've been up to this week...

Reading

I’m an author and a speaker and I’m always looking for ways to hone both of those skills.  So when I came across this from Inc. magazine: The 1 Sentence That Will Make You a More Effective Speaker (click here) I had to stop and read.  And yes… I found some interesting info that will make me a more effective speaker!

The article quotes TED curator Chris Anderson about the importance of distilling your message into 1 sentence because that will keep you focused and your audience interested.  “By distilling your thoughts into one succinct take away — your big idea — you can communicate with power and precision. And your audiences will walk away feeling satisfied and excited, instead of bleary-eyed and confused.”

Ariana Huffington is profiled as a great and effective speaker because her sentence, “Only by renewing our relationship with sleep can we take back control of our lives” was the focus of her TED Talk that has been watched by millions.  I’ve got two opportunities to test out the one-sentence idea this month:  a webinar on networking skills called Making Allies and Believers and a presentation on Negotiating Skills for Women at the Go for the Greens Conference for Business Women.  I’ll let you know how it goes.  Better yet, join me and let me know what you learned!  Registration info is here:

  • Join me at the Go for the Greens event September 23rd - 25th at Walt Disney World click here to register.

Connecting

True confession:  I’m a learner and I’m a joiner.  It’s really hard for me to pass up a learning networking/connection opportunity, especially when it involves both personal and professional growth.  I recently joined Patrice Washington’s Purpose to Platform coaching program.  I’ve been listening to her podcasts and I’ve read her book so when the opportunity to join a coaching program presented itself, well I could not pass that up!  The program is called Purpose to Platform (click here)

It’s 12 weeks of learning and growing, of witnessing and stepping up and stepping in.  I’m amazed at what I’ve experienced so far! There are about 200 of us in the program from all over the world. I’ve worked with lots of coaches over the years and I have to say that this format of working with 6 coaches from the same program all helping you to achieve your goal in a 12-week format is AMAZING!  And Patrice Washington does a weekly connection call where she bears witness to her own journey in a truly authentic and inspiring way.

Celebrating

September is my birth month.  This year I’ll be 63.  Yup.  A nice composite/not prime number, and for those of us who think in terms of numerology, a really auspicious 9 which is associated with completion and new beginnings.  I’m excited about my new year because I once read that with every passing year you get older and wiser and more filled with grace.  It’s also been suggested that you should start a new routine each year and really be intentional about that. I’ll be giving the idea of a new routine some thought over the course of this month.  I’ve got some ideas of things I want to explore—I need to try them on for size, because once decided, I’ll be intentional and find a way to actively incorporate the routine so it takes on the status of ritual and somehow fills me with grace.  I’m open to your suggestions…

So, I ask you, "what will you choose this month?"

  • How you will embrace your next steps?
  • What one sentence will you use to describe what you do?
  • What one new routine will you add to help you embrace what's next?

Never forget that you do not have to take these next steps alone. Our community is here to support you. And I invite you to click here to grab a 30-minute complimentary discovery chat with me to help you get started.

 Wishing you peace and joy.
